Sdrawkcab (Backwards) by Mr. J
|
Theme: Trust in what God has promised us in the Bible.
Prompts: Backward pictures or items. You may even wear your own clothes backwards for the presentation. Bible Verse: II Kings 20:9 Isaiah said, “The Lord will do what he says. This is the sign from the Lord to show you: Do you want the shadow to go forward ten steps? Or do you want it to go back ten steps?” |
Message:
Do you ever have one of those days when everything seems to be going backwards for you? I mean one of those times when you are confused on whether or not you are going forwards or backwards. Which way is up and which way is down? Did I already finish something or do I still need to work on it?
Did I put something on wrong?
I'm so confused (mispronunciation intended)!
It all started this morning when I walked into the kitchen for a cup of coffee and looked up at the clock. What in the world was going on, I could not figure it out! It looked like my clock, but something was all goofy. Which way is forward and which way is backwards and why are the arms going the opposite direction. How in the world am I supposed to know what time it is?
Well I figured out that someone in my house was playing a little joke on me by changing our clock when my wife walked into the room and asked me, "is it time for a cup of coffee dear?" You have to admit, it is kind of a funny practical joke.
So all that thinking about things being backward made me think of a saying "Never go backward, you have already been there." That sure is the truth, if you are moving back you are just going back to where you started. That makes no sense at all.
Did you know there is a Bible verse that talks about going forward towards God's promise of life. In II Kings 20, verse 9 it says, “The Lord will do what he says. This is the sign from the Lord to show you: Do you want the shadow to go forward ten steps? Or do you want it to go back ten steps?”
Do you want to be walking backwards or forwards? I say let's go forward just like the verse tells us, "The Lord will do what he says," so we should be walking towards the promises of God, not backwards away from them.
That's all I have to say about that.
