Graduation by Mr. J, BA, MAJ, METHEME: At a time we recognize achievement in education, it is important to remember that true knowledge relies on God's guidance.
BIBLE VERSE: Proverbs 1:5 "let the wise listen and add to their learning" PROMPT: Graduation robe or cap, diploma, or other familiar graduation item. |
MESSAGE: Our Bible verse today is Proverbs 1:5 "let the wise listen and add to their learning"
It is graduation time and all over the place we see students wearing robes and receiving their diplomas from high school and college. They show up at big fancy graduation ceremonies and then have parties and receptions to celebrate their success. It is a way of showing everyone that they have learned enough information in school to be dangerous.
Now a lot of people would think that just because someone has graduated they are smarter. However, that may not always be the case. It seems that some people stop learning when they graduate and that is really the time they should just be getting started learning.
Today I would like to address any new or upcoming graduate with four very famous quotes that will help them continue on with their education. These four quotes were written in Latin, which everybody knows is the smartest language of any there is.
Quote #1-Magister loquitur, qui solus cum alio dormiat or translated into English, "A teacher is the only person who talks in someone else's sleep."
Quote #2-Momma tua est smarter quam vobis , which translated means, "Momma is still smarter than you."
Quote #3-Bibliis leguntur, ut proximo libro, meaning "the next book you read should be the bible."
Quote #4-Nulla vitae est in vobis de Deo sit amet . This translation of Latin means, "No matter what question you have in life, God is the answer."
Proverbs 1:5 "let the wise listen and add to their learning."
So with these four wise sayings and the Bible verse bouncing around inside our heads, I now hereby pronounce and declare to all who are gathered here today, "you all are smarter now than you were five minutes ago."
