Soli Deo Gloria
To God Alone Be the Glory
Theme: Praise Music.
I have a music clip for you to hear this morning…Listen for 3 things:
1. Have you heard this song before?
2. Do you know what instrument is playing the music?
3. Does anyone know who wrote this song? (grownups?)
Cue: Play Toccata and Fugue in D minor for organ at: http://www.dsokids.com/listen/by-composer/johann-sebastian-bach.aspx

This is a famous song by a man named John Sebastian Bach. He lived 250 years ago, worked for his church as a composer and organist. He wrote hundreds of songs. Many people think he was the greatest composer of all time.
Whenever Bach wrote a piece of music, he always wrote the letters S.D.G. at the bottom of the music. Those letters stand for the words Soli Deo Gloria (repeat after me…) which means "To God alone be the glory."
Bach believed that his music was a gift from God. He once said, “Music was about blessing the Lord and blessing others.”
Music is a very important part of our worship. Don’t you love to sing and dance in our church with our amazing praise team?!
There are many places in the bible that talk about praising God with music but I want to read from Ephesians 5:19-20 today.
Scripture: “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”. Ephesians 5:19-20 (NIV)
Our worship leaders have lead us in praise and worship every Sunday morning, I think it would nice if we could lead a praise song this morning. We can show them how much we appreciate their talent and gifts and we can make this song our prayer this morning.
Sing: (See below a link to one fun version of this childrens' song)
Praise Him, Praise Him,
Praise him in the morning,
Praise him in the noontime,
Praise him, praise him,
Praise him when the sun goes down.
Love him, love him…
Serve him, serve him…
Thank him, thank him…
