FOOD FROM GOD
by Mr. J (Tim Johnson)
MESSAGE:
Everybody needs to eat food to keep themselves going each and every day. Without food we would just shrivel up and go away. So we all have come to enjoy different foods as our favorites when we are hungry. I bet some of you youngsters have favorite foods.
(Ask for some of the kids to tell you their favorite item).
Now if I asked you where that food you eat comes from I would get a bunch of different answers.
(you can ask for some answers or supply the following)
Some of you would say it comes from the grocery store, or maybe from a farmer, or that your parents just bring it home. All of those answers would be sorta, kinda right, farmers grow the food, grocery stores sell it and then your parents bring it home to fix it for you. Then all you have to do is gobble it up!
The real truth is that God provides us with the food we need to live on. Our Bible verse for today comes from Genesis 1:29, "I have provided all kinds of grain and all kinds of fruit for you to eat."
(share your prompt such as a bowl of fruit or vegetables with the kids)
As we look at these food items we need to remember that from the very beginning, God has always provided the food for man. He started with the Garden of Eden and continues to this very day when he makes sure you have so many of those special foods that you like so much. The important thing is that we need to be thankful for all he gives us. Let us share a wonderful table prayer we can say at dinner time:
God is great, God is good.
Let us thank him for our food.
By his hand, we are all fed.
Give us, Lord, our daily bread.
Amen
