THEME: Looking at New Year's Resolutions in a special way.
BIBLE VERSE: 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creatioon; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
PROMPT: Wear a New's hat and have a noise maker you can toot on.
MESSAGE: It is New Year's Day and after a night of celebrating in different ways, we are left with that part of the New Year we call New Year's Resolutions. That's right, we make promises to ourselves to do certain things in the new year to become better people.
Here is how New Year's Resolutions work, you promise to change something in your life. I bet some of you have made New Year's Resolutions or maybe your parents have.
I checked to find out what the top list of resolutions are each year and here are some of the top ten:
Stop Smoking
Lose Weight/Go On a Diet
Start An Exercise Program
Get Out of Debt
Eat More Healthy
Take Some Time For Yourself
Spend More Time with Family
Learn Something New/Go Back To School
The problem with New Year's Resolutions, is that most people end up breaking them. They
mean to do something better, but you know what, it is hard to change. In fact, it is so hard that there is only one way I can guarantee that you will be successful. That is to ask for God's help.
If you really want to change, to stop doing something that hurts your body or to do something that will make you a better person, you must ask God's help. "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
So here is my one and only resolution for this new year, "may I trust in God this year, to make me a better person." I think that is the only NewYear's Resolution I need to make.
